I love scones.  I love scones almost as much as I love Mexican food.  And yeah.  Y’all know what that means.  If there is a biscuit-y type thing I can have with breakfast or brunch I’m going to pick scones every. single. time.  Fact.  Plus they’re so versatile!  And unlike biscuits than can be savory OR sweet.

Ever tried a sweet biscuit?  Don’t.  Just don’t.  Take my word for it.

But scones.  Oh, man.  Sour cream scones, cheddar bacon scones, apple pie scones, cinnamon raisin scones.  You could probably take just about anything and put it into a scone and be the happiest bruncher on the planet.

The other day I woke up, like out of a dead sleep, wanting to make brown sugar scones.  My mouth is literally watering right now as I type this.  It’s not often that thoughts of food wake me up but these had me bolting out of bed and scrambling into the kitchen to start with my favorite scone recipe and then shake it up a little.

And then while I was impatiently waiting for these babies to come out of the oven  I thought ‘brown sugar scones aren’t good enough!  They need a glaze!”  And more brown sugar + maple syrup + powdered sugar = the best glaze you’ve ever allowed to pass your lips.  Legit.

That glaze and that scone and then when it’s still warm and the brown sugar is just.  There aren’t words y’all.

Want to know the secret?  All I did was replace white sugar with brown sugar.  Snap!  See, I told you it would be easy.
