Chicago style popcorn is a blend of a salty sweet treat perfection and it’s just the thing to bid farewell to my favorite president!
I do my level best not to talk about politics on my food blog. And I promise you that this post isn’t going to get all political. Or it might. I dunno. I’ve only typed 4 sentences at this point. But today is an unprecedented (unpresidented?) day in our nation’s history. Today we’re inaugurating a reality TV star as our president.
Whether you voted for him or didn’t isn’t the point of this post. Currently I’m in the car, road tripping it with some awesome ladies. On my way to DC to join in the Women’s March on Washington taking place tomorrow, January 21st. I’m excited and terrified and so, so blessed to be able to stand up for what I believe in.
So, today, while everyone else is inaugurating the 45th president I’m going to spend my time remembering the 44th. With a little Chicago style popcorn.
I’ve never personally been to Chicago but the last time my roommates went they brought back some Garrett’s popcorn. And I mean. Come on. Cheddar cheese popcorn + caramel corn = an unexpected but amazing combination!
It satisfies that sweet and salty craving like no other and is STUPID simple to make. Plus I promise that, with this recipe, you don’t have to hunt all over your supermarket for a jar of cheddar cheese powder.
Now if you have a dehydrator or if your oven goes down to 130 degrees then you can dehydrate and powder your own cheese. Like a boss. But if not that’s ok too all you need for the cheddar cheese popcorn is the powder packet out of a box of mac and cheese. That’s it. Boom. Done. {I mean I never said it was healthy amIright?}
Below I’ll show you have to make the cheddar cheese popcorn but don’t forget to grab the caramel corn recipe, too! You definitely want to try them both together for the real Chicago popcorn experience!
Today a few tears, lots of popcorn, and a road trip. Tomorrow action, new friends, and no problems with the Metro 😉
