Two of my favorite things about Christmas are White Elephant parties and Cookie Exchanges. I’d never heard of a White Elephant party until my Aunt suggested we start a new Christmas tradition in our family. The stealing, bargaining, and general thwarting during our annual party really tickles me! And it’s so funny watching my grandparents participate because they’re really not as cutthroat as the rest of us so they usually end up with the most random gift. Like last year when my 15 year old brother brought an old nerf gun as his gift. My grandpa ended up with it. But I still think he won because he ended up giving it to my nephew. It’s just a good time!
When I graduated from college and started working I discovered the magic of homemade gifts. I don’t know why I killed myself all those years in college trying to come up with thoughtful gifts for my friends and favorite professors. Baking or making something was definitely my thing, even back then. So when I started working and really didn’t have any money {thanks a lot student loans!} I would whip up a couple different cookies and hand them out to my coworkers. By my third year of teaching Head Start I started a Cookie Exchange tradition! It took the pressure off you to find something nice for your coworkers when you could just whip up a delicious cookie and gift it on a pretty plate or in a decorated tin.
Plus it’s always fun to try people’s different recipes. Which is why I’m SO excited to be participating in a delicious bloggy Cookie Exchange! 15 bloggers, 15 amazing cookie recipes, and your ticket to some fantastic ideas for your next coworker gift idea! I’ve already added some of these recipes to my holiday cookie list but I will definitely be trying them ALL at some point! I mean Salted Caramel Brownie Cookies! Hello!
Hop around and check out these amazing cookies from my friends and make sure you leave some bloggy love and let them know how you got there!
So much yumminess in one spot makes me smile! We’re on the home stretch with our 12 Days so don’t forget to come back tomorrow for a guest post from my awesome friend Nicole on how to make your own lip balm! How impressed will your friends and family be if you show up passing out homemade, all natural lip balm?
