Try this healthy and delicious slow cooker turkey chili with ground turkey and enjoy some healthy comfort food to keep you warm.
I haven’t always liked chili. For several years of my adult life I was stuck in a very childish frame of mind when it came to new foods. If I didn’t like it as a kid I was convinced I wouldn’t like it as an adult. Go ahead, roll your eyes. I totally did it myself when I realized how crazy ridiculous that sounded!
One night I was having dinner at a friend’s house and she made chili. I was apprehensive. Kid me did not like beans. Even though…I’m not entirely sure kid me ever really ate beans. But when you’re eating at someone else’s house you don’t want to be that person who refuses to eat what they serve. It’s just plain rude.
So I tentatively took the first bite. And let me tell you what. I LOVE CHILI! Not just chili but beans. Pinto beans, kidney beans, lima beans {but the hard ones you have to soak not the ones from a can…bleh!}, black beans, baked beans. I ate two bowls of that chili and have experimented with half a dozen recipes since. My favorite is my taco chili. Are you even surprised that my favorite chili would taste like a taco? You shouldn’t be. *This post may contain affiliate links. To learn more about my disclosures policy click here*
But this is my healthy version of chili using ground turkey instead of beef. We’re all looking to eat a little lighter after the holidays but not skimp on flavor. I think this would even be delicious with leftover shredded Thanksgiving turkey. Yum! And the best part? It cooks at your leisure in the slow cooker all day!

I think most of us go through some sort of food epiphany as we grow up, the moment that you realise that kid you was a bit of a dick and has been missing out on loads of great food... There are so many things I eat now that I never touched as a kid.
Lovely looking chili, I love cooking chili in a slow cooker!

Uh, no! That's exactly what I'm hoping to do with our leftovers! It's great with shredded turkey instead of ground :)

I love our crock pot too! Funnily enough I use it more in the summer than the winter because we don't have AC so I hate having to turn on the oven when I can just plop it in the crock pot instead :)

It really is! I generally go for beef over turkey almost every time but this one is so good I can hardly tell the difference!
