I swear I eat this s’mores dip more year round than traditional s’mores during the summer months. It has all my favorite things: chocolate, marshmallows, and cast iron skillets.
Nothing in the world makes me think “summer” more than the word s’more. Every summer I look forward to stocking up on Hershey’s chocolate bars, marshmallows, and graham crackers so I can get my s’more on. But for a long while I lived in an apartment where small fires are generally frowned upon. With that being the case I had to get creative with my s’mores making skills.
I’ve used the microwave, the stovetop, and the oven. And let me say that there isn’t much that’s more satisfying than smooshing a gooey marshmallow between two graham crackers and watching as the chocolate melts and the marshmallow oozes around your fingers. You won’t even notice until you go to get in your car or change the TV channel or make dinner and find your hands all sticky.
So I bring you this gloriously fast and easy s’mores dip that starts on the stove and finishes in the oven and only takes about 10 minutes. And it is good. Like you may never want to make a traditional s’more again good. Like s’mores aren’t just for summer anymore good.
These s’mores are perfect in the oven if your cookout gets rained out, it’s too hot to stand over a grill, or you just flat out need some s’more action in the middle of winter. BUT if you do have access to a grill these would be just as perfect done on the grill or even over a campfire provided you have one of those little grates. I wouldn’t recommend sticking it right in the fire unless you have a fancy cast iron skillet with a lid.
However you decide to enjoy this treat you won’t be sorry you did! This dip is the perfect way to celebrate the end of the work week with a few friends over to play your favorite board game, revel in the beginning of the summer with the kiddos, or to take to a friend’s house for a cookout or pot luck! And also to use your cast iron skillet.

Thanks for sharing, and hello from a fellow Michigander! I tried this with Halloween Peeps and Hershey chocolate bar. That ended up being a mistake, as the Hershey bar got hard and crumbly. Will have to stick with chocolate chips next time!

Oh no! I've tried this with Hershey bars too but they don't melt well. I know you'll have better luck with the chips and peeps are such a great idea!!

You know I have never tried smores, primarily because I don't have a sweet tooth but am gonna try and get round to trying this next weekwhen our friends are over as they do and it sounds super simple ;) Do you mind if I use real chocolate though instead of Hersheys :p

Haha, I love Hershey's but you can feel free to use whatever chocolate is your favorite as long as it gets you eating those s'mores!

LOVE this idea Meaghan! We've had such a hot summer so far, and this would be a great dessert when it's too hot to be outside!

Yes! It doesn't get super hot here in Michigan (although locals would not agree haha) but I love this dip when we don't feel like building up a fire in the fire pit :)

Okay, this s'mores dip just gave me life :') Would it still be acceptable if I made this in a 12" cast iron skillet for some "s'mores for 1" action? I mean...I *could* try to share, but there's also a chance that I may or may not eat the entire thing by myself ;)

I can neither confirm nor deny that the first time I ever made this dip I made it in a 10" skillet and refused to share with anyone. ;) If you do go 12 use 2 1/2 cups of chocolate chips and enough marshmallows to cover. You wouldn't need to cut them in half in a deeper pan unless you just wanted to make yourself feel better. Either way, I won't judge!
