Sriracha and honey come together perfectly as the sweet and spicy sauce on these homemade slow cooker meatballs!
Traditions are one of my absolute favorite things about holidays! At Thanksgiving we always have a huge turkey and green bean casserole. Christmas is all about my grandma’s delicious butter cookies and learning a new game with my cousins, aunt, and uncle. Seriously, for the first time ever yesterday I played a game called Hands and Feet. Which is supposed to be similar to Canasta. I’m a card playing beast, y’all. Because we won! By like 4,000 points!
Anyway, traditions are what you remember about holidays. You don’t remember the stuff you got or how long it took you to make 6 dozen cookies for your office holiday party. But you DO remember the traditions. The time spent with family kicking butt playing new card games or watching the ball drop in Times Square. I love our New Years Eve traditions. Probably because it’s a quiet night at home with a bunch of finger foods, playing games and watching a countdown show.
We have some old standbys when it comes to our New Year’s Eve party fare, like lil smokies swimming in a pot of Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce. Yum. But we do like to switch it up too. We’re not total creatures of habit. Sometimes. I’m on a real sweet and spicy kick lately. Just ask my Srirarcha Raspberry Cream Cheese Dip! So I made sriracha shine again and this time sweetened it with honey. Ah-may-zing. Seriously, these slow cooker meatballs are good enough for a special occasion but simple enough for a Tuesday night. And, that super bowl is coming up, too. Just saying.
My favorite part is that these babies cook all day in the slow cooker and you can serve them that way, too and save on the dishes! Win! The honey caramelizes and the sriracha is the perfect kick. I’d eaten five before I even knew what was happening! Even the teenager who doesn’t much care for spicy food gave these a thumbs up!
