I’m pretty much a creature of habit when it comes to mixed drinks.  You’ll find me either with a glass of wine in hand or something premade.  It’s rare I’ll wander into the liquor store just to see what’s good.  But on these rare occasions I usually hit on something real good.  Life changingly you will never drink a mimosa the same way again good.  Too much?

Did you even KNOW there was mimosa flavored vodka out there?!  I mean, I can’t say I’m surprised because they have so many other flavors.  Marshmallow, anyone?  But when I was wandering through the bitty bottle section {also known as the travel sized aisle} there it was.  In all it’s orange flavored glory.  And I grabbed a bottle {or three} and high tailed it to the register and knew exactly what I was going to do with it when I got home.

I know that mimosas are champagne and orange juice which is why I dubbed this a martini for all you mimosa purists out there.  But I have to say that when I compare this to the mimosa I had at our fancy mother’s day brunch buffet last year I kind of like this version better.  Plus I can make this whenever I want which is an absolutely positively huge win in my book.

I rimmed the glasses with orange juice and sugar macerated with orange zest but feel free to leave the orange zest out, or the sugar out, or whatever floats your boat and tickles your fancy.  And I say that if mimosas of the champagne variety are acceptable with your other brunch fare then the mommas in your life will not be upset if you serve this alongside their breakfast in bed and get that Mother’s Day celebration started off right!
