Ever made pizza on the grill? Me either until I was seeking a refuge from the unbearable heat created in our kitchen when the oven is on and it’s hot out! Try this next time you want to flavor your summer.

When I moved from Virginia to Michigan my main concern was winter.  As a person who turns my nose up at even watching snow fall from the sky on TV I knew that winter was going to be a struggle.  I had no idea I was also going to reside in a home with no air conditioning for an entire summer.  Granted I’m not expecting triple degree heat indexes or the kind of delicious humidity you get in the south but you can imagine that wandering around a house when it’s 80-90 degrees out with nothing but a box fan and air conditioning window unit to cool you off that it won’t be a super comfortable experience.

What’s a food blogger to do when it gets so hot you can barely stand to be inside let alone turn on the oven to make something yummy enough to take beautiful pictures?  Use the heck out of the grill and the crock pot, that’s what.  Have you ever made pizza on the grill before?  Me either!  But I couldn’t think of any other way to make my favorite California Pizza Kitchen White Pizza without heating up the entire house and making it unbearably hot in the kitchen in the middle of the day.

There’s nothing I love more than something quick and inexpensive, especially when I’m too tired from being too hot to cook anything!  And after this grilled pizza success you’re going to be seeing a lot more of this around the blog.  But until that day just enjoy the easy cheesiness of a pizza cooked to crispy perfection on the grill.  A feat that didn’t involve making our tiny kitchen unbearably hot or me getting sweaty and gross.  Win!

Plus if you fire up the grill there’s a good bet that the man in your life is going to want to take over and when that happens you can just release the kids into the yard and have the quiet house all to yourself until dinner is ready.  How’s that for a way to enhance your summer? 😉

So the next time you want to enjoy your summer a little more and still have fun cooking out on the grill then pick up your favorite California Pizza Kitchen frozen pizza!  I have to say the White pizza is one of my favorites followed in close second by their BBQ Chicken.  My roommates are pretty partial to The Works, though!
