Use this three ingredient, diy linen spray to help you sleep or keep your sports bag smelling fresh!
Hey, Cook. Craft. Love. readers! I’m so happy to be here sharing one of my favorite things with you. Essential oils! I’m a terrible sleeper. Honestly, when I was a kid I could (and did) fall asleep anywhere and everywhere. I slept through sporting events, plane rides, anytime we were in the car, and this one time when a car literally crashed into my house (seriously it happened)! My family used to tease me for it all the time, but I didn’t care. I slept good!
Then something happened. I’m not exactly sure when or where, but all of a sudden I stopped sleeping as well. I could (and do) still fall asleep just about anywhere but I have trouble staying asleep. And even worse I have trouble getting good sleep.
So basically I was walking around in an exhausted daze, which is no good for anyone. I went to the doctor and they weren’t able to explain it, so they just gave me a prescription for sleeping pills. And I’d sleep like the dead, but still be exhausted throughout the day. No good. I started looking for some more natural options to help me stay asleep through the night and I landed on essential oils.
I’d been using them for years on a casual basis, mixed with bath salts, creating body butters, stuff like that. But I’d never really thought about how I could use them to get a better night’s sleep until I started meeting and talking with other essential oil users. It was revolutionary. I still have crazy active dreams and can wake up ridiculously tired because I spent the whole night running around chasing monsters in my sleep. But I sleep. Through the night. It’s amazing.
First I created my sleep roller bottle blend, I just rub this little baby along the bottoms of my feet and off to dream land I go. It’s great for falling asleep faster and better. But I wanted something that would help a little longer through the night. Plus something that would make my whole bedroom smell heavenly.
That’s where our Sleepy Time linen spray comes into play. This stuff is absolutely divine. Not only do I sleep better and have a better smelling room, but I’ve also started using it to get the funk out of my gym bag and suitcases! You can also use it when ironing your clothes, as a perfume, to freshen up on those hot summer days (they’re coming back I promise) and more.
Even better it only takes 3 ingredients! I like to make it with the Serenity blend which is one of my favorites. But lavender is usually what I have more of on hand, so that’s what I made this time. I make small batches at a time and fill up my glass spray bottle. But you can also make larger batches at once and store it. Just make sure you always store essential oil blends in a glass bottle because it can degrade plastic.
