This creamy, cheesy, and spicy taco cheese ball is perfect for your next sports party!
I have been on a terrible taco kick lately. The worst part? I have yet to actually make myself some tacos. Which isn’t really helping those pesky taco cravings. Luckily we did our own thing for friend Christmas and laid out a taco bar. So many tacos. Seriously. And was I upset about it? Absolutely not. I mean how could I be when I’ve made this taco cheese ball twice in the last week. No shame.
Initially I threw this together because we had some friends coming over for a Pure Romance party and when people come over to our house I like to feed them. Usually they get what I’m craving so taco something and cheese it is. They’re just lucky it lasted until the party because I honestly could have eaten this entire thing by myself. Easy.
I adored it with the shredded chicken but I’m considering trying ground beef the next time I make it. I’m not sure if it’s an experiment that will go well since chicken generally tastes much better cold than beef. But I’m a brave taco lover and I’ll try almost anything once. Besides, what’s the worst that could happen? I pop it into the oven to make it nice and bubbly and have a hot dip instead? Sounds like a win win situation to me!
As I gear up for my 2nd favorite season: all the sporting events {fall and football will always be my first love} I’m arming myself with an arsenal of delicious appetizer recipes and this one fits the bill! If you’re feeling fancy shape it like a football for your Super Bowl party or make it easy on yourself and leave it round. Whatever you decide you’ll need to make two. One for everyone else and one for yourself 😉

I make the same thing, but have never coated it in cheese. What a brilliant idea and it makes it look so much more appetzing. Huge crowd pleaser!!

I'm in love with this concept! Tacos and cheese balls are two timeless classics but never before have I seen the two combined. Truly, genius! Thanks for this great idea.

I've been known to commandeer a cheese ball at get-togethers and I have a particular soft spot for the ones coated in nuts, circa 1980 :) Reading your post I realized I've never made my own, so now I have another item on my must make list. Love your taco twist and I agree, if you try one with beef a hot, bubbly dip from the oven might work great :)

I only discovered my love for cheese balls last year which is crazy because I LOVE cheese! So naturally a taco and cheese ball twist was necessary :)

Haha, I've totally done that where I'm craving something and make everything related but that thing. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But I love this simple idea for when you want taco "something" without necessarily having tacos.

It helps that we also have shredded chicken on hand pretty regularly vs beef that is a lot less common in our house :-P

That's true! Although I wouldn't mind making this with beef just to see what it might taste like.
